The beneficiary's family told GoFundMe to shut down Daily Wire host Matt Walsh's #HelpAbuela fundraiser after over $100,000 was raised in one day to fix the ancestral, dilapidated house in Puerto Rico.

GoFundMe has shut down the fundraising page aimed to help progressive New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's grandmother's hurricane-stricken home after the "beneficiary's family" said they would not accept the money. Ocasio-Cortez reported on Twitter earlier that her abuela is nearly homeless due to her house still being in a state of disrepair four years after Hurricane María.

Walsh and others are expressing their incredulousness Saturday morning as the news broke that the Ocasio-Cortez family would reject the money raised by thousands of supporters who were shocked by the pictures of the home. Mainstream media outlets have smeared the campaign as a "personal attack" and Ocasio-Cortez herself and remained silent throughout the ordeal.

The initial outrage of the pictures can be summarized in a statement released by Walsh this morning: "AOC- who earns over $180,000 per year and drives a luxury car- blamed Donald Trump for the dire state of her ancestral home in Puerto Rico... Why didn't AOC help her own abuela for nearly four years?"

Walsh's fundraising campaign raised over $104,000 from over 3,000 donors in one day. Walsh's initial charitable donation that launched the GoFundMe was accompanied with the caption: "I will kick things off by donating $499, which happens to be the cost of a monthly lease payment for a Tesla."

Many including Sen. Ted Cruz, former Press Secretary Sean Spicer, and others weighed in with shock when the family of Ocasio-Cortez rejected the money.

"Imagine neither helping your grandmother when she’s living in terrible conditions, nor allowing others to help her," Daily Wire producer Jeremy Boreing wrote on Twitter. "I guess @AOC only wants your money if the government takes it against your will."

Others like conservative personality Mike Cernovich said the act is "possibly elder abuse." Cenovich wrote: "The money was abuela's - who according to AOC was nearly homeless. Refusing this money could be a crime depending on the circumstances as it’s depriving an elderly person of money legally owned by her."

One Twitter user seemed surface the question on everyone's mind, saying: "I'm beginning to suspect that AOC doesn't care about her Abuela at all." Ocasio-Cortez has yet to comment on the GoFundMe page and it is unclear the current situation with her grandmother's Puerto Rican home.
