Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden claimed Sunday that 200 million people — which accounts for nearly two thirds of the population — have died from coronavirus in the U.S.
The official number of people who have lost their lives to coronavirus in America is around 200,000.
“If Donald Trump has his way, the complications from COVID-19, which are well beyond what they should be, it’s estimated that 200 million people have died, probably by the time I finish this talk,” Biden said at a rally in Philadelphia.

“Like I said, as I speak we’re probably passing 200,000 deaths lost to the virus,” the former vice president said as he continued.
This isn’t the first time Biden has cited wrong statistics. Biden falsely claimed in June that “over 120 million” people died from coronavirus before correcting himself to note the real number was more so around 120,000 deaths.
“People don’t have a job, people don’t know where to go, they don’t know what to do,” he said. “Now we have over 120 million dead from COVID.”

In February, Biden made the claim that 150 million Americans have been killed by gun violence since 2007, which would account for nearly half the entire U.S. population.
