‘This isn’t about justice’: GOP releases ad targeting Marxist co-founder of Black Lives Matter

.

The Republican Party released a scathing advertisement against a Marxist Black Lives Matter co-founder.

Taking aim at Patrisse Cullors, the GOP played a clip from a 2015 interview in which she identified herself and fellow co-founders of the organization as “trained Marxists.”

“I actually do think we have an ideological frame. We are trained Marxists,” the ad, released on Thursday, shows Cullors saying.

Marxism, a belief system formulated by German political philosopher Karl Marx, is the underlying worldview written in The Communist Manifesto, which was written by Marx and philosopher Friedrich Engels. In Marx and Engels’s view, history is characterized by worldwide material class conflict.

In Marx’s manifesto, the “proletariat,” or the working class, recognizes a struggle against the “bourgeoisie” or the middle class. According to him, the implementation of communism will mark the “the end of history,” when the working class wins the “struggle” through revolution.

The ad also shows socialist New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden seemingly siding with the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I just don’t even know why there aren’t uprisings all over the country,” the minute-long video shows Pelosi saying while addressing reporters.

“This isn’t about justice. It’s about destroying America,” the ad concludes.

Black Lives Matter has risen in prominence and seen a large influx of funding in recent weeks as protests spread across the country following the death of George Floyd. Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died on Memorial Day after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes despite his pleas for air.
