I recently received the email below from the Citi Talent Acquisition Department in response to a job application I submitted with them a few months ago.

This email describes the abhorrent covid vaccine mandate that Citi has imposed on its workforce.

I now feel fortunate that I did not get hired at Citi as I will never get the covid vaccine no matter who tries to mandate it on me.

It’s worth noting that even though I live in Illinois, the job that I applied to is located in the red state of Missouri, in the red county of St. Charles, in the red city of O’Fallon.

Even the fact that this position is located in a red state didn’t stop Citi from imposing a vaccine mandate on it.

An employer or school has no right to mandate receipt of the covid vaccine as a condition of employment or enrollment. Being an employer or school doesn’t give one the right mandate vaccines, or other medical procedures in general, on someone else.

It’s inherently wrong to force vaccines, or other medical procedures in general, on someone as a condition of employment or school enrollment.

When an employer or school holds someone’s financial livelihood, or the education that one needs in order to earn a livelihood, hostage with a vaccine mandate, that evidences a tyrannical, power tripping mentality that shows an evil disregard for the well-being of those that the mandate is being forced upon.

Employers and schools do have rights, but so do employees and students. The rights of the employer and of the school need to be balanced with the rights of the employees and students in a mutually beneficial manner.

Our society needs to move away from the dangerous, tyrannical, and liberty loathing idea that employers and schools have the absolute right to mandate whatever they please upon their employees and students.

Only someone who hates the idea of personal freedom would want employers and schools to have that much power.

Some people callously say that those facing an unwanted mandate at work or school should just find a new employer or school, or start their own business or home school, but that is easier said than done.

People shouldn’t have to worry about their ability to go to work or school being upended with heavy handed mandates.

We need to end the tyrannical mentality that governments, employers, and schools can mandate unwanted medical procedures, such as the covid vaccine, on their citizens, employees, and students.

People should always have the liberty and freedom to choose which, if any, medical procedures to partake in.

We are free citizens of our government, not subjects of it. This means that the government can’t force health procedures on us. We don’t give up bodily autonomy in return for our citizenship.

Employers can’t force health procedures on their employees just because they sign their employees’ paychecks. One doesn’t give up their bodily autonomy in return for earning a living.

Schools likewise can’t force health procedures on their students just because they provide an education to their students. One doesn’t give up their bodily autonomy in return for an education.

It’s unacceptable that employers and schools are allowed to decide if the vaccine religious exemptions submitted by their employees and students are worthy of approval.

Employers and schools have no right to sit in judgement of the religious beliefs of their employees and students. One’s religious beliefs are solely between them and God.

I happen to be a non-denominational Christian whose religious beliefs are derived solely from my own interpretation of the bible and my own personal relationship with Jesus.

I wonder if the self-appointed theologians in the Citi HR department would find my religious beliefs acceptable and worthy of a vaccine exemption.

I really hate having to contemplate the possibility of having to discuss, explain, and defend my religious beliefs with my employer in order to get a religious exemption to the covid vaccine.

That’s unacceptable and should never happen. No one should ever be put in a position like that.

Some people argue that mask and vaccine mandates are justified by “science” or because they are for the common good of society.

The common good of society can be maintained without violating individual liberty with mask and vaccine mandates.

Since society is composed first and foremost of individuals, respecting the rights of the individual is crucial to maintaining the common good.

There is no reason to force other people to receive a particular vaccine. If a particular vaccine works, then those who have received the vaccine should have no reason to be concerned with the vaccination status of others.

People who believe in mandated vaccines seem to think that their vaccine won’t work unless everyone else also gets that particular vaccine.

There is nothing scientific about forcing masks or a particular vaccine on others.

As British Rabbi Jonathan Sacks said:

“Science will explain how but not why. It talks about what is, not what ought to be. Science is descriptive, not prescriptive; it can tell us about causes but it cannot tell us about purposes. Indeed, science disavows purposes.”

In other words, science only tells us what is. It doesn’t tell us what policies to implement. Mask and vaccine mandates are the result of political science, not actual science.

Forced vaccinations are medical tyranny and violate the concept of bodily autonomy. The vaccination status of one should not be the concern of anyone else. People need to respect the vaccination decisions of others.

Some people argue that mandating the covid vaccine is acceptable based on the fact that other vaccines have been mandated in the past.

Past precedent does not make right. Just because some vaccines have been required in the past or currently, does not make the concept of mandatory vaccination right.

One reason it’s important to fight against mandating the covid vaccine is so that it doesn’t further cement the precedent of mandating vaccines.

The covid vaccine has highlighted the moral wrong of mandating vaccines due to the fact that it has so many problems with it.

People might be willing to tolerate the moral wrong of forced vaccination when the vaccines being mandated aren’t egregiously bad, but when an egregiously bad vaccine, like the covid vaccine, is mandated, it galvanizes people into rightful opposition.

Risk is inherent in a free society. A free people assume that risk as they go about their daily lives. No more restricting our liberty under the guise of additional security.

No more mask mandates, quarantining of healthy people, lockdowns, vaccine mandates, mandatory covid testing, and other covid mandates.

Imagine the government forcing every person to buy a car which it provided liability exemption waivers.
Would the manufacturer rush the production of that car possibly making errors?
Would the materials making the car continue to be too notch?
Would the design of the car meet everyone’s individual needs?
Why wouldn’t the government acknowledge if you already had a car?
If it doesn’t make sense for a car, why would it make sense for something you inject into your body?
