Biden advisor Anita Dunn would not commit to getting schools reopened fully by September despite the administration's promise to have them opened by the end of their first 100 days in the White House.

Speaking to CNN's Jake Tapper, Dunn responded to what Biden had said, namely that all schools should be open in the fall. Her answer? "Probably," that is "if the people do go get their vaccines..."

"President Biden said in an interview that schools should probably all be open in the fall. Can you clarify? Is it the Biden administration's position that all K-12 schools should be back full-time, in-person learning, start of next school year, and is the Biden administration willing to push back on any teachers' unions or others, who stake out any position to the contrary, not backed up by science?"

In response, Dunn said that "80 percent of the teachers and school personnel in this country have now been vaccinated." CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky had previously said that teachers did not need to be vaccinated for schools to reopen.

Dunn said that there was a plan to have a "special supply of vaccine dedicated precisely for this reason," for teachers and school staff to get vaccinated.

"If the vaccination program in this country proceeds, if the people do go get their vaccines, he does believe that schools should be able to reopen in September, and reopen safely following the CDC guidelines. But he did say probably, he did not say absolutely, because we've all seen this since, unfortunately, January of 2020, it's an unpredictable virus."

Biden had promised that schools would be reopened by the end of his first 100 days in office. Instead, the CDC's guidance has been impacted by the demands and fears of the teachers unions. The first 100 days in office have passed, and school districts across the country are struggling to reopen. This despite masses of cash through the CARES Act, which contained within it the money demanded by teachers' unions to reopen.
