Facebook might cut down your news feed's political content
It's going to "reduce the distribution of political content" as part of a test.

Your Facebook news feed might get a little less political soon, as the social network tests a different approach. It's temporarily reducing the distribution of political content for some users, it said Wednesday, a move that CEO Mark Zuckerberg hinted at in last month's earnings call.
The test will run in Canada, Brazil and Indonesia this week, with the US following in the coming weeks. COVID-19 information from the CDC, the WHO and other trusted health organizations will be exempt from the tests, as well as content from official government agencies and services.
It won't mean your news feed is going to be totally apolitical, Facebook product management director Aastha Gupta noted in a blog post.
"Our goal is to preserve the ability for people to find and interact with political content on Facebook, while respecting each person's appetite for it at the top of their News Feed," Gupta wrote.
The company will survey people selected for the test afterward, to see if reducing political content improved their social media experience.
