Fox News host Tucker Carlson released never-before-seen footage Monday night from the Jan. 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol that appears to disprove narratives championed by the media and the House Select Committee.
Last month, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave Carlson over 40,000 hours of security camera footage from the Capitol Building that had been kept hidden from the public for over two years.
Carlson said that the videos prove that politicians and the media were "lying" about the events that occurred on Jan. 6.
Some of the footage released Monday showed Ray Epps, the man caught on video encouraging Trump supporters to enter the Capitol building the night before the Jan. 6 riot, on the grounds at least 30 minutes after the time he originally claimed when he testified before the House Select Committee about a text he sent his nephew earlier in which Epps claimed he was heading back to his hotel.
According to Carlson, the false claim to congressional investigators is itself a crime. Epps has not been criminally charged which has fueled speculation that he had coordinated with the FBI before the riot.
Other footage showed Trump supporters peacefully looking around the building and cueing up in lines. Carlson referred to them as "sightseers."
Jacob Chansley, a Navy veteran referred to in the media as the "QAnon Shaman," was seen in the footage being escorted around the building by Capitol police officers who were even showing Chansley around and trying to open locked doors for him.
Carlson noted that at one point in the footage, at least nine police officers were seen near Chansley, but none of them attempted to stop him, yet he was sentenced to nearly four years in prison for "knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, and with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.”
"The tapes show the Capitol police never stopped Jacob Chansley," Carlson stated. "They helped him. They acted as his tour guides."
The Fox News host asked, "If he (Chansley) was in fact committing such a grave crime, why didn't the officers who were standing right next to him place him under arrest?"
The media and Democrats have continued to promote the narrative of a “deadly insurrection” on Jan. 6, citing the death of police officers, the majority of whom died by suicide after the riot, while some of the others died of natural causes, the only person who was killed that day was Air Force veteran and Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt, who was shot by a Capitol police officer.
The media alleged that Officer Brian Sicknick was "attacked" by the rioters and even falsely claimed was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher.
Sicknick was seen in the footage described by Carlson as "healthy and vigorous," while guiding Trump supporters out of the building as he wore a helmet, which contradicts the media’s narrative that he died of a head injury.
"Whatever happened to Brian Sicknick was very obviously not the result of violence he suffered at the entrance to the Capitol," Carlson added. Carlson noted, "This tape overturns the single most powerful and politically useful lie that Democrats told us about January 6."
Carlson added that the footage of Sicknick had an electronic bookmark in the Capitol archives, alleging the Jan. 6 House Select Committee had reviewed it but chose not to include it in its hearings and final report on the riot.
"They lied about the police officer they claimed to revere," the Fox News host said. "If they were willing to do that, then their dishonesty knew no limits."
While Democrats have claimed that Republican lawmakers helped rioters before Jan. 6, and even accused Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga) of leading a "reconnaissance mission" through the Capitol building the day before, the congressman was seen in footage giving a tour in a congressional building down the street to constituents, none of whom have been linked to the riot.
Carlson also showed footage that refuted Democrats’ claims that Sen. Josh Hawley (R-M) "fled" from the mob in a cowardly fashion but actually was among several lawmakers who were rushed away from the Capitol by police with him at the back of the group.
Carlson said that more footage from Jan. 6 will be released on Tuesday’s episode of "Tucker Carlson Tonight."
