A second person has been charged in connection with the shooting death of 5-year-old Cannon Hinnant earlier this year.

21-year-old Aolani Takemi Marie Pettit was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony accessory after the fact in relation to Cannon’s death and is being held on a $250,000 secured bond, according to ABC 11 Eyewitness News.

Pettit’s arrest comes more than a month after the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 25-year-old Darius Sessoms and charged him with first-degree murder for allegedly walking up to Cannon while he was playing in the street in front of his home and shot him in the head in front of the boy’s two young sisters.

A motive has not yet been determined for the crime, but police say they don’t believe Sessoms, who lived next door to the Hinnants, carried out the crime randomly.

“My heart has been taken from me,” Bonny Waddell, Cannon’s mother, said about the loss of her son. “That man will see me and my son through my face! This sorry excuse as a human being will rot in hell.”

News of Cannon’s death immediately received attention online and trended on social media after many conservatives were angered over the lack of media attention the alleged murder received from major news outlets.

A GoFundMe page established to assist the family and raise money for Cannon’s funeral raised over $800,000.
