Former President Donald Trump’s long-time attorney Rudy Giuliani is currently not representing Trump in any pending legal cases, according to Jason Miller.
Giuliani has been serving Trump as his personal attorney since 2018 and led the former president’s legal team challenging several states over election integrity.
The statement comes on the same day the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) filed a lawsuit against Trump and Giuliani over their respective speeches to supporters on Jan. 6.
Trump’s Jan. 6 speech was at the center of the Senate impeachment trial, which accused him of “inciting” the breach of the U.S. Capitol. The House managers argued that he provoked his supporters in attacking Congress but omitted relevant parts of his speech where he called on his supporters to “fight” in a “peacefully and patriotically” manner.
The Senate on Saturday voted 57-43, which ultimately found Trump “not guilty” of the charge. Sixty-seven votes were needed to convict.
“The insurrection at the Capitol was a direct, intended, and foreseeable result of the Defendants’ unlawful conspiracy,” the lawsuit states. “The carefully orchestrated series of events that unfolded at the Save America rally and the storming of the Capitol was no accident or coincidence. It was the intended and foreseeable culmination of a carefully coordinated campaign to interfere with the legal process required to confirm the tally of votes cast in the Electoral College.”
In the Dominion case, Giuliani told The Epoch Times that he will look into counter-suing the firm.
“It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously,” Giuliani said.
Meanwhile, in the Smartmatic case, Giuliani said in a statement to The Epoch Times that “the Smartmatic lawsuit presents another golden opportunity for discovery.”
