The FBI is warning US lawmakers that QAnon conspiracy theorists could get more violent, according to a report from CNN.
"The participation of some domestic violent extremists (DVE) who are also self-identified QAnon adherents in the violent siege of the US Capitol on 6 January underscores how the current environment likely will continue to act as a catalyst for some to begin accepting the legitimacy of violent action," the FBI said in a report obtained by CNN.
The report, titled "Adherence to QAnon Conspiracy Theory by Some Domestic Violent Extremists," was provided to lawmakers at the request of Democratic New Mexico Sen. Martin Heinrich.
It was sent to lawmakers last week, CNN reported.
The report said QAnon members are shifting from "digital soldiers" to people taking action in the real world.
According to the assessment, followers to seek violence instead of "continually awaiting Q's promised actions which have not occurred."
Among theories believed by QAnon followers is the baseless theory that former President Donald Trump was fighting a secret cabal of Democratic elitists who trafficked children.
