Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Thursday to another 16 years in prison for sex-related crimes, Page Six can confirm.
The disgraced Hollywood producer, 70, is already serving a separate 23-year sentence for raping an aspiring actress and sexually abusing a TV and film production assistant, of which he was convicted in March 2020.
The latest ruling pertains to Weinstein’s Los Angeles trial, which concluded in December 2022 with a guilty verdict on three counts: forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and sexual penetration by foreign object of Jane Doe 1, an Italian model, at the Mr. C Hotel in the city in February 2013.
The Weinstein Company co-founder was found not guilty of sexual battery by restraint of Jane Doe 3, a massage therapist, at the time.
According to the New York Times, jurors could not decide on two counts related to accusations made by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker and the wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, nor could they agree on one count stemming from allegations by model and screenwriter Lauren Young.
A rep for Weinstein tells Page Six that Thursday’s sentencing was “cruel” given his client’s age and health.
“It’s not justice, but a pile-on for a man many people just decided should be cast off and discarded regardless of facts. It will be appealed,” Juda S. Engelmayer tells us.
“The judge, just like the trial judge in his New York trial who was not reappointed to the bench, will eventually be called out for bias and injustice,” he continues. “There are many out there who will celebrate this action, but it is a sad day for justice and fairness, and I hope no one who is pleased with this is ever caught on the wrong side of cancel culture while hopelessly and voicelessly proclaiming innocence.”
Weinstein himself adds to Page Six, “It is incredible to be convicted for a crime I wasn’t even present for. I am innocent.”
“I never raped or assaulted anyone,” he says before alleging, “This person perjured herself at least three times and then sued for money, when she said on the stand that she would ‘never’. I was never with her. Her entire claim thing was a setup for a money grab.”
After the verdict last December, Jane Doe 1 released a statement saying: “Harvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013, and I will never get that back.
“The criminal trial was brutal, and Weinstein’s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand, but I knew I had to see this through to the end, and I did. … I hope Weinstein never sees the outside of a prison cell during his lifetime.”
In January, Weinstein filed an appeal for his New York City case, blaming his conviction on a “carnival atmosphere” around the trial.
“The day I met Harvey in 2019, he told me, ‘I was innocent,’” Weinstein’s attorney, Arthur L. Aidala of Aidala, Bertuna & Kamins, told Page Six at the time.
“Despite all the negative things that have happened from 2019 to today, the one thing that hasn’t been diminished is his powerful defense of himself and his proclamations of innocence. He has not given up.”
